Know Jewelry "Pearl"

Unlike gemstones produced deep in the earth, pearls are created by living creatures called mollusks. Mollusks live in marine and freshwater, and even on earth. They have soft, fleshy bodies protected by shells, and we know their common names, such as mussels, oysters, scallops, mussels and snails.

All shellfish, which gives the surface can produce pearls. However, while there are over 100,000 types of shells, only a few types, usually these two plans (clams), generally produce pearls. Pearls of snails and other animals a shell is quite rare.
